Courses taken for the Business degree may also be used to satisfy general education distribution requirements (for example, ECO 221 counts as both Prep for major and Social/behavioral science; Math meets Business and GE Math requirement; Eco/Hist 135 satisfies a Business core degree requirement, History general education, and cross-disciplinary requirement)
 
Completion of one Business Concentration is required for the BA in Business.
Business students are encouraged to choose more than one concentration and add business electives to their program. Two or more concentrations will be offered each year in multi-year rotation.

The Business Communication concentration develops an understanding of the communication needs within organizations and with diverse constituencies, with a focus on practice, feedback, leadership, and respect for cultural context.

This Concentration is designed to provide students with a multi-disciplinary foundatios that combines a global and more macro understanding of economics with an in-depth study of the business model, beliefs, and practices contained within the field of social entrepreneurship.

The Entrepreneurship concentration allows students to learn through a case-study approach in a seminar setting, with guest speakers from both successful and struggling organizations. Students have the opportunity to critique one another’s business plans, laying the foundation for the development of their own capstone project.

The Global Economy concentration develops an understanding of the global and institutional context in which organizations operate, with an examination of social and economic institutions, the business enterprise as locus of innovation and agent of change, the role of government, and the identification of regional strengths and challenges.

Management Science students develop mathematical modeling for problem solving with business applications in finance, marketing, management, including extensive analysis using commercial software, with a focus on case studies and team projects.

This concentration provides the student with a solid understanding of the foundations within the Marketing field while exploring the details associated with new product development along with the tools and techniques associated with conducting marketing analysis and forecasting.

This concentration provides students with an in-depth understanding of two inter-connected fields.  The first, Operations Management, focuses on the tools and techniques used to plan, manage, and control the “value-adding” activities within an organization – both the traditional ‘push’ and more holistic ‘pull’ models.  The second, Systems Management, focuses on the basic philosophy, techniques, and practices being used to create and manage more sustainable organizations.
